MyMagic eNewsletter #1,297
April 26, 2025
I am currently in Buffalo at the 4F Convention and most of this newsletter was written before I left. As usual I will be picking up some exclusive magic products and will be offering them to you over the next few weeks.
I remembered the first time I brought exclusives from the convention. It was Alex Elmsley’s idea. After his lecture he had 38 sets of lecture notes left and wanted to know if I would buy them from him. I said sure, but you have to autograph them. That was also the first time I had offered you an autographed product. I sold them out in a week and the rest is history.
Today I am going to offer you a special download by Scotty York. It is a solid routine with a built-in story and a surprise ending. You are also shown the gimmicked bills you will have to make (basically two gaffs made by gluing two bills back-to-back).
►Bill Swindle:
One of Michael Skinner’s favorite Scotty York routines is this swindle with bills, that is based on Larry West’s Passing The Buck. Scotty’s version streamlines the handling allowing all but two of the bills to be examined at the end. The only sleight used is an Elmsley Count.
You begin by showing you have four $1 bills. You then jokingly count them as eight $1 bills. Then as a finale you show that you actually have a $1 bill, a $2 bill, a $5 bill, a $10 bill, a $20 bill, a $50 bill, and a $100 bill for a total of $188!

The Bill Swindle routine may seem familiar to you if you purchased the Obie O’Brien Big Bucks. Both are based on the original Larry West routine and have a similar handling.
►Big Bucks:
The routine revolves around a conflict between two people who are trying to out cheat each other.
It begins with four large ten-dollar bills which are miscounted as eighty dollars. The four ten dollar bills are then shown to have changed into a ten, a twenty, a fifty, and a hundred-dollar bill for a total of $180!

►Dunes Day Prophecy:
A topical and engaging routine that fools laypeople!
You show three poker chips from the famed Dunes Casino in Las Vegas which at one time was the most luxurious hotel in the world, where all of the greatest performers appeared.
A spectator freely selects one of the poker chips which you have previously predicted with 100% accuracy.

Stay happy, Meir
PS: Although I didn’t get a chance to make my own Bill Swindle set, I will likely not use a $2 bill since it is insignificant for the routine and will make the packet smaller.
“When you work in any bar or restaurant, you have a wonderful opportunity to develop a mailing list, as well as a phone list. When I’m working, I have almost every selected card signed, with a home phone number.”
