#9 – Maximal Muses [4/25/96]
Cape Cod Conclave:
Hank Lee once again sold-out his convention with close to 500 people attending. The shows were all very good. The highlights were Jorgos (pronounced your-gos) and Johnny Thompson (not pronounced yanni). They both killed. I always have fun at Hank’s — the people are friendly, the hotel is nice, the dining room overlooks the beach and Hank, his family and elves all do their best to take care of you. There is even a small party thrown by Hank’s elves (he keeps them in the wing with the low ceilings). See below for more photos.

Monday Night Magic:
The show I discussed in my last column was a huge success. Around a hundred people showed-up for the sold-out, standing-room-only performances of Peter Kougasian, Meir Yedid, Michael Chaut and Eric DeCamps. Offers have been made for an extension with the possibility of turning this into a weekly event as early as June. More info will follow. On May 6th George Schindler will be filling in for Michael Chaut.
There was a heavy turnout of magicians who supported us; they included: Bobby Baxter, Frank Brents, Steve Chiffo, Craig Dickson, Shigeo Futagawa, Imam and Evelyn, Wesley James, Ken Kurita, the Lashers, Gene Maze, the Mintzes, Richard Robinson, Eddie Rodriguez, the Schindlers, Margaret Steele, Torkova, the Zarrows and many more.
Bird Cage:
Last week I saw the movie The Bird Cage starring Robin Williams and Nathan Lane. Noticed two magicians in the closing credits: Jules Fisher for lighting and Bill Taylor for special effects. Were there any others?
Apocalypse Scoop:

87th Annual Salute to Magic:
S.A.M. Parent Assembly #1 will hold its annual show on Saturday, April 27 at 8pm. It will be held at the Tribeca Performing Arts Center, 199 Chambers Street in NYC. You can get tickets by calling: (212) 346-8510. Featured this year will be: Lee Germain & Judi, Marcello Contento, Peter Gossamer, John Bohannon, Ashley Springer and Luna Shemada. This year, my friend, Eric DeCamps has been voted magician of the year and the award ceremony will be held at the show.
