“Salute to Magic” the oldest continuing magic show in the U.S. celebrates its 91st annual performance on April 15, 2000 at the Tribeca Performing Arts Center, 199 Chambers Street in NYC at 8pm. The show originated in 1908 bringing well known as well as new magical artists to the attention of the general public. In accordance with tradition, the Parent Assembly (#1) of the Society Of American Magicians makes the presentation to its “Magician of the Year” at this show.
Magician of the Year- This year’s recipient is Devlin, a young illusionist and a favorite cruise ship performer. Devlin is well known to Atlantic City audiences for his “Cabaret Tonight” magic show at the Claridge Casino and at the Copa Room of the Sands Casino with his “Hollywood Magic Review”. He has appeared on TV most recently playing himself on several segments of “All My Children.” Devlin, born in South America speaks several languages and calls himself the “Sicilian, Brazilian magician from Brooklyn.”
Family Show: The “Salute to Magic” is a wholesome family show with comedy, audience participation and baffling illusionists from around the country. Comedy Emcee Mike Caveney is from California as is Ms. Tina Lenert who makes a dream come true onstage, Ardan James brings his hilarious act from Wisconsin, Jania Taylor of Ohio works with cards and modern manipulative magic. From Indiana the team of Jahmal Keyes & Tiphanny do remarkable illusions with music and dance sequences. New York medal winning Torkova produces money from the air.
