One of the items that many of the Blackpool convention dealer room video reviews showed on social media was Spinception.
A few years ago, Ted Bogusta showed me a prototype, that he made, using a different technological method that does the same effect. We brainstormed a bunch of applications that would turn it into a magic routine instead of a riveting visual. At the time I thought that expensive battery-operated close-up magic would not be popular. I guess I was wrong!
Although this version is not for everyone, I am enjoying playing with it and watching it work is mesmerizing. I think that a mentalist using it for a demonstration of telekinesis would likely be a much more powerful effect.
The reason it is not for everyone is that the gimmick (approximately 3”x2.5”x2”) must be hidden in a stationary position, so you must be able to hide it either under the working surface or inside an object. I decided to tip its working at the end of the trailer so you can see if it is for you.
►Spinception:
This gimmick gives you the ability to control the spin of a coin—whether in a glass, on a plate, in your hand, or even in the spectator’s hand.
Although it is presented as coin magic you can apply the system to many different types of magnetic objects. It can also be presented as mentalism by invoking your telekinetic powers.
Important considerations: The spinning object must be magnetic. The gimmick (approximately 3”x2.5”x2”) must be attached under a tabletop or concealed in some way. The tabletop must not be made of metal. The thinner the tabletop, the higher the success rate of spinning the coin in your hand.

The coin release in the last newsletter did well and all the half-dollar versions sold out the first day. I still have medium and small sizes left.
►Coin Vase:
A beautiful hand spun Coin Vase made of a single piece of exotic wood. It works like a combination of a Ball Vase and a Dove Pan but is sized to be used with coins.
You can use these Vases for many of the simple Ball Vase routines like removing the coin, putting it into your pocket and it comes back to the Vase.
But you can also use them for sleight-of-hand routines, transpositions, vanishes, appearances, transformations, shrinkages, penetrations, color changes, reassembly of broken coins, making change, multiple-out predictions, and so much more. Of course you are not limited to coins, you can use buttons, charms, pills, wedding bands, vitamins, stamps, jewelry, or any small object with dimensions that are similar to coins.
One of the nice features of these Vases is that since the gimmicks are a little larger than the coins and are basically flat, they are very easy to steal… leaving everything examinable at the end.

►BACK IN STOCK:
Last week I received two more Ted Bogusta’s items. One sold out immediately, the other is the Holed Jumbo Coin. It has become popular because it is similar (although not identical) to the Bacon halves: HERE
Funny thing about the trailer I made around three years ago was that one of the applications I gave away, was released as a separate item using regular sized coins!
Also received more of my favorite optical illusion, the only one I often carry with me. The Sakkaku Scale.
►Jumbo Holed Double Sided Coin:
This is a warehouse find. It was manufactured for Sasco many years ago by a company that makes metal dishes and other kitchen utensils. It is of exceptional quality.
But we don’t know what it was made for. You can see what it is on the trailer, but it is basically a three-inch metal Chinese Coin with a square hole on one side and a 1964 Kennedy Half Dollar with a square hole on the other.

►Sakkaku Scale Puzzle:
As you talk about optical illusions you show three plastic strips. Two of the strips have cats printed on them and one has a ruler. Using the ruler, you show that all are the same size.
Then the cats appear to get shorter and longer and each time you use the ruler to show that they apparently did change in size. This looks so impossible that you will fool yourself every time you demonstrate it.
