The other day I met with Jamie Masterson to pick up copies of his new book “Card Table Artifice For Conjurors” and of course I got him to autograph all the copies. These are the same books that sold out at Magic Live! within an hour of arriving at my booth.
During our three-hour lunch he showed me a bunch of the moves and routines in the book. Some great stuff for anyone who loves card magic. There is a lot to learn and practice. I am going to start with a relatively simple Hold’em routine called “Triple Duke Double-Cross,” which is a pseudo stacking routine for Hold’em that follows the rules of the game while having multiple surprises and a show of skill.
But that is not all, he was also able give me a bunch of his “Crazy Eyes II” and he just reprinted a few copies of his “Shadow & Shake.” Both of those items sold out multiple times. He has developed quite a fan base… without the aid of social media.

►Crazy Eyes II:
A great packet trick by Jack Carpenter and Jamie Masterson that has many surprises that gradually lead to an unexpected ending that will fool and entertain.
You begin by talking about the famous Gorilla Experiment video where players pass around a basketball and watchers are asked to count the number of times the ball is passed. After watching the video people are surprised to find that they did not see a large gorilla walk through the players, pound his chest and then walk off. You then explain that the video was a research project on “Inattentional Blindness” and you will try to replicate the experiment with playing cards.

The basic routine is a three-phase transposition routine that looks and feels impossible. But it does not take 44 pages to explain one card trick. What makes this book special are the many additional optional climax endings, professional performance tips, psychology, and advanced fingertip visuals and much more.
The book teaches alternate handlings, options and sequences that are interchangeable within the body of the main routine based on a person’s skill level. This allows you to customize your own routine based on what feels most comfortable.

You begin with a twelve-piece puzzle that is made of heavy half-inch, stainless-steel pieces. You and your friend assemble the pieces into a solid, impenetrable block that is around the size of a deck of cards.
The block is slid into an examinable heavy-plastic case that has a slit running through it. You then insert a playing card right through the slit and the stainless-steel block that was just built. The card is moved around and even inserted lengthwise! Once your friend removes the card from the block the puzzle is removed from its case and all the pieces are separated showing the impossibility that was just created.
