For the past few weeks, I have been messing around with invisible bands. Doing all kinds of weird things while breaking and loosing bunches of them… I am so careless with that kind of stuff. That is why when I built my Rebalanced Business Card system I also built-in five backups.
The bands I am using are called TIES and you get ten in a package. But the real value in this package is the 2-hour video tutorial that is full of great ideas and routines (even one I published in MUM a million years ago, which is obviously uncredited since it appeared in print before most on the video were born). The highlights for me were the Nathan Kranzo routines and Nick Locapo’s advice on lighting.
►TIES: The Invisible Elastic System:
TIES is Penguin Magic’s version of the invisible elastic bands that were first introduced by Finn Jon. You get ten TIES in every package.
But what makes this package so very special is the two-hour video tutorial that comes with the TIES. It features Nick Locapo, Nathan Kranzo, Cash Wallace, Travis Askew, Seth Race, and Nick Popa performing and teaching their favorite routines.
You will learn levitations and animations using bills, receipts, ChapStick, rubber bands, playing cards, silverware, food, rings, water bottles, cell phones, and more. And the routines you will learn can obviously be adapted to other objects.

►Fantasma Invisible Thread:
This is invisible thread that was manufactured for Fantasma Magic to include with its magic sets. Its official name is “Secret Levitation Gadget.” The length of the thread is a healthy thirteen feet long and as in most of these types of ITs you can separate it into many, many strands of invisible thread.
The quality is pretty good as far as invisibility and strength is concerned. You will need to know how to separate the thread since no instructions are included.

►Roth Coin Boxes:
What is a Roth Coin Box? Some people assume that it is a standard type Okito Box with a slot in it, that is now commonly called a Slot Box. Of course, a slot is involved but there is much more that goes into making this box so very special.
All the boxes are precision made from Brass to David Roth’s original specifications. They are made to be used with US Half Dollars but can be used with similar sized, or smaller coins. Both sets of boxes come with access to a 50-minute video tutorial by David Roth where he discusses and teaches all the intricacies of the box, the sleights than can be used with it, and his favorite coin box routine which can only be done with this set.

►Pocket Nightmare:
The basic routine: You tell your audience that you will perform an effect with only one hand, to make sure that everyone knows that sleight-of-hand is not possible. The other hand is placed in your pocket. The spectator peeks at a card in the deck. You are then able to divine the card that the spectator is only thinking of.
The deck is then given to the spectator who is invited to search through the deck for their card only to discover that it has completely vanished. You said you would do the trick with only one hand, but you did not specify which hand. You remove your other hand from your pocket holding the vanished selection.

►Zodiac Coin:
This is an excellent and self-working routine where you apparently read a spectator’s mind by telling them what Zodiac symbol they are thinking of and predict what card they were going to select.
The basic routine (without the procedure) is of having a spectator think of a Zodiac symbol and its number. You then reveal the symbol and show that you predicted the card at the thought-of number.

“To succeed, the magician must take great pride in his work, and must thirst for perfection. He practices not because he enjoys fooling people, but rather because he loves his craft.”
