MyMagic eNewsletter #984
December 21, 2021
A few newsletters ago I mentioned that my best-selling pandemic release, which was about to sell-out, was my Gigantic Comedy Prediction. I was very surprised by the sales since it is a comedy stand-up routine that should really be done live. I even considered releasing it after the pandemic subsided.
The second printing is available now. The company making the cards surprised me by finishing them ahead of schedule and I decided to keep the price the same even though my costs went up.
Coincidentally, I just received the January issue of Genii Magazine where Brad Henderson gave it a lengthy review which was positive. He also took the time to dissect the effect, which is very difficult. We know that it always gets great reactions and laughs but how do you describe the effect? I tried to explain it on the trailer: HERE
Like most McCombical effects of this type, my take on it is explained in the tutorial. I think of it as a dual reality routine where you are simultaneously doing two separate effects. The routine for the spectator on stage is one of a free selection matching your prediction and the effect for the audience is a sucker effect where they think they know what is going on, they sense you are in trouble, but you come through with a surprise ending. Either way the routine always kills. Watch Jim Spinnato’s performance on the trailer: HERE
After originally releasing this, one of the surprises was the number of well-known pros who purchased multiple sets.
The other surprise which I didn’t expect were the many requests for extra forcing packets. A forcing packet consists of five mis-spotted Jumbo cards and two different face cards. The forcing packet is demonstrated in the trailer.
The reasons they wanted more were varied. Some wanted to show a larger fan of cards during the selection process, others wore out the cards, and some wanted to use them for other routines. A few even lost the cards at a show.
So, when making another run, I was also able to print extra sets of forcing packets which are now available: HERE
►Gigantic Comedy Prediction:
This is an ideal stand-up routine with intrinsic situational comedy. Even if you are not a comedian the situational comedy that is built into the routine will always get you laughs. But not just laughs… The magic is strong and there is even a dual reality ending where the spectator and the audience experience two different effects and both are impactful!
The set of cards you get can either be used with Queens and a King selection or with Kings and a Queen selection, in case you want to repeat it in the same venue for a different audience.
Comes complete with a Gigantic Prediction Card (10.5” x 15”) that is transformational, a set of Jumbo Forcing Cards (5” x 7”), and access to a 30-minute video tutorial featuring Meir Yedid, Jim Spinnato, Rick Wilcox, and George Schindler.
