MyMagic eNewsletter #1,340
September 30, 2025
They are back. Ted Bogusta just finished making the rest of the Coin Copiers. Since we only had 75 of the original coin boxes, that is all we are able to make. We are planning on making the next generation of Coin Copiers, but they will likely be a little different and will take a long time to manufacture all the necessary parts.
The theme of this newsletter is coin magic so I will introduce each item separately.
►Coin Copier:
This is an ingenious self-working coin box routine that Christian Scherer created in the 1980s. Since that time the manufacturing technology and the availability of the gimmicks used has advanced and the current version works perfectly.
It is basically a coin box routine like no other. Even though it uses heavily gaffed coins everything is examinable at the end.
The basic routine involves a metal box which is referred to as a tiny counterfeiting machine. You dump the four coins out of the box; a Japanese coin, a Swiss coin, a British coin and a US coin. Using the Japanese coin as a sample each coin is placed in the box and one at a time, as the box is waved over the Japanese coin, the coin inside instantly turns into a duplicate of the Japanese coin. This is repeated until all four coins have turned into Japanese coins and everything is examinable.

Below is a very good quality Jumbo Half Dollar. I started table hopping when I was still a teenager. I often closed the set with a one-coin routine which ended with a jumbo coin. At the beginning of every shift I would smash the coin on the table so everyone in the restaurant would hear it. It was a subtle way to let people know that I was a magician. The first one I used was much worse than this one. David Roth and I were working at a party once and he told me to upgrade to a one-pound pure silver coin that the mint used to make. These work well and look good.
►Bacon Jumbo Half Dollar:
This is likely the best Jumbo Kennedy Half dollar that is available. It has nothing to do with bacon or food… that is just the company that made them.
They are made of heavy metal and the engraving is excellent. It looks like the real thing… except for the size! The edges are also milled which makes gripping them much easier.

This is the second of the Steve Dacri booklets I bought the rights to, this one is about his routine with tiny pennies. It also includes 13 tricks and ideas by Sid Lorraine using tiny coins. It is now available as an inexpensive download. I also just purchased a bunch of tiny pennies that should arrive next week.
►Penny Fantasy:
This booklet revolves around magic using Micro-Pennies which are tiny reproductions of US Pennies.
It begins with Steve Dacri explaining his Penny Fantasy routine using five Micro-Pennies and a Jumbo Penny and ends with Sid Lorraine explaining 13 additional routines and ideas using the Micro-Pennies.

Introduced you to these frisbee half dollars a few weeks ago and they surprisingly immediately sold out. I was able to get a few more.
►Jumbo Pop-Up Half Dollar:
This will not make you a star, but it is a funny and memorable item. It is basically a folding frisbee with an imprint of a Kennedy Half Dollar on it.
It is around 2.25-inches when folded and expands to around 7.75-inches. It can be used as a production item or even as a surface to do coin magic on during walk-around by having a spectator hold it.

►Coin Clip:
Christian Scherer redesigned the original Slydini Coin Clip in the 1980s, to make it much easier to handle and the perfect size for four half dollars. It also allows for more natural handlings.
The video tutorial is the most comprehensive treatise on the subject ever presented. It includes many of the common methods as well as little known applications for close-up and stage. Subjects include: Coin Insertions (7 methods), Hand Steals (6 methods), Hand To Hand Toss, Lapping (4 methods), Almost Perfect Vanish, Sleeving (2 methods), Topit, NOW-U-IT Vanish, Pull (3 methods), Pendulum Principle/Upside-Down Topit (2 Methods), Baby Bottle Nipple, Silly Putty, and much more.
