MyMagic eNewsletter #899
January 27, 2021
The other day, after hearing of the passing of Mark Wilson I was inspired to casually write some stuff about him and before I knew it, I wrote an interesting column. I spent the next few days refining and editing it and decided to add it as a MagicTimes feature.
If you have not visited MagicTimes lately you will find a ton of articles, news stories, features, videos, interviews, an archive of these newsletters, and much more.
To read my Mark Wilson story go: HERE.
I also just finished editing volume two of the Bill Wisch videos. The subject of this video is Bill’s close-up routines. These are the routines that he has used professionally when entertaining lay audiences at restaurants, cocktail parties, and formal shows.
The highlights for me are the coin routines. I left his Dime routine on the trailer which I think you will enjoy messing with.
Most magicians who do walk-around work have their favorite one-coin routine which is often structured as a series of coin moves with a jumbo coin ending (I believe Presto was the first to do that after finding a jumbo coin at the Worlds Fair). Bill shares his routine which features many valuable sequences and sleights that you should consider adding to your arsenal.
►Bill Wisch’s Close-Up Magic:
Volume two of this series features the magic that Bill Wisch created combining Slydini’s teachings and his own ingenuity. You will learn some close-up routines using coins, cards, matches, rings, chains, marbles, sponges, and more. Along with the routines you will also learn many original and little-known techniques that can be applied to your current repertoire.
Routines include: Bill’s One Coin Routine, Bill’s Copper/Silver Routine, Stick It In Your Ear, Slydini’s Coins Through Table, Phantom Match, Chain(R)ing, Grab A Card, Transit Spheres Plus, Sponge Ball & Purse, Torn & Restored Napkin, and Slydini’s Wand Card Wild Card.

PS: I tried not to increase the shipping charges and the minimums for free worldwide shipping for a while now, but it looks like this will have to happen soon. At least once a week there is an order where my subsidized shipping ends up costing me more than the total of the order… especially when I ship outside the US. Just have to figure out a win-win scenario.
