Construction has stopped on David Copperfield’s restaurant in New York. Massive cost overruns used up the $26 million budget for the Magic Underground. Originally projected to cost $20 million now estimates have increased to more than $30 million. About 25 of the contractors have filed more than $15 million in liens against the project. A spokesperson said that a new backer has been found and they expect to resume construction in the next 30 days. When it finally opens it will be the most expensive restaurant in the world.
