The first “Magic International – 2000” convention held in Jaipur, India on Jan. 26-28 attracted around 150 magicians from India and 28 from abroad. International talent came from Russia, Germany, USA, Cyprus, and Mauritius. The highlight of the event was a cocktail party where Indian Street Jugglers performed classic Indian Magic like the Great Indian Mango Trick and the Great Indian Basket Trick. K. Lal received a lifetime achievement award and Anand received the Pride of Indian Magic Award. Convention chairman Mahipal Gupta also announced that the Government of Rajasthan promised to help in the creation of a Magic Academy in Jaipur (Capital of Rajasthan) to help develop & flourish the art of magic.(2/1)
