I bet most of you did not know that the word “Xerox” became a synonym for photocopying and the laws of the lands decided that Xerox (the company) can no longer own or control the rights to its name and patent, since it became a general term. (I know I am oversimplifying the issue… I don’t need lawyers correcting me).
The cost of success… I don’t think I will ever have that problem. Can Meir become a verb?
But I just realized that there are two people associated with magic whose name has become a general term that is commonly used to describe an action. Can you think of those two? Is there a third?
What does the above have to do with this week’s routine? Very little. But the card routine does simulate a Xerox (photocopy) machine when it is used for apparent card printing, and it can be applied to other effects.
►Zerox:
This system creates a visual change of one card for another, simulating what a photocopier can do by shining a light source during the change of the card.
The deceptive source and appearance of the light is just as magical as the printing itself and can be applied to other routines. The sleights involved are simple, and the gimmicks make this charming trick fun.

►Trick Tac:
You have a card selected (forced). You then show a standard looking box of Tic Tacs. Shake it to prove it is full of Tic Tacs and even open the lid to dump a couple out to give away.
You then have people focus on the Tic Tacs while they visually vanish and in their place is a folded card. The box is opened, the card is removed, and it is seen to be the selected card. Practically self-working.

►Stroop Test:
A Stroop Color and Word Test is a real “Neuropsychological test used to assess the ability to inhibit cognitive interference that occurs when the processing of a specific stimulus feature impedes the simultaneous processing of a second stimulus attribute, well-known as the Stroop Effect.”
That test is now available as mentalism routine disguised as a psychological experiment. It blends real science with real magic to predict your spectator’s choices 100% of the time.

“A smooth card sharp will simply palm cards from the top of the pack and wedge them in the bend of his right knee, where they are obtainable as needed, or he will palm them from the bottom and leave them in his inside pocket when bringing out his wallet to buy more chips.” …Sid Radner (How To Play Poker And Win, 1957)
