MyMagic eNewsletter #978
November 20, 2021
Looks like I will finally be coming out of performing retirement. Although I have mixed emotions about it. I kind of enjoyed staying home for the past couple of years and market new magic and write these newsletters.
Last year I committed to Emceeing one of the stage shows at the upcoming SAM Convention in Las Vegas and thought that I should get some stage time before then to try and regain my rhythm.
I also wanted to see if my old performing personality which is basically sarcastic, flippant, and self-deprecating will still work with my new hairless look. Jim Spinnato came to the rescue and got me two dates in his weekly shows at Mohegan Sun Casino where I will do the first half and he will close. Hope to see some of my friends there.

When I introduced you to the Double Wedge decks around six weeks ago, they sold out in minutes and the N-Strippers sold out shortly afterwards. As I mentioned before these are precision, hand-made decks that are the best available. Steph is not only a master craftsman who makes them but is also an expert in their use. The two skills working together is what makes them special. Around a third of the decks were already purchased by the magicians and gamblers who signed up for notifications. You can have the rest.
If you did not read the original newsletters that described what is special about them go: HERE and HERE and HERE.
►Double Wedge Deck:
The Double Wedge deck is much easier to handle than a standard Stripper deck because one of the features of the deck is that the cards are shaved on an angle on both corners of the cards instead of just one side. This creates a different feel to the cards, and they can be easily stripped with just one swipe. Because they are easier to use, they are ideal for people with dry hands or have low sensitivity in their fingers.
Another advantage is that they allow the cards to be stripped forward to simulate a natural looking table cut.

►N-Stripper Decks:
For a very long time the N-Stripper Deck, also known as a Negative Stripper, has been a closely held secret among card cheaters and very few advanced card magicians.
Unlike any other type of deck that shares part of its name, these cards can be shuffled and cut by the spectator in any way they like. They can even be washed and turned as they do in casinos.
After all the shuffling and cutting you can strip out the Aces, the Kings, Queens, Jacks, and tens.

Both decks come with lengthy video tutorials that teach you how they work and what you can do with them. Double Wedge deck is very easy while the N-Strippers will require practice.
►Undead:
This is a clever book test using ordinary books. The books that are used for this routine are the widely popular and best-selling Twilight Saga Series by Stephenie Meyer which consists of four books. The books are Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse, and Breaking Dawn. All four of which were also made into movies.
The basic routine is having a book selected, a spectator names any page, turns to it and begins reading it. You have them concentrate on the first line of text, and begin describing what you envision them reading, you proceed by naming or spelling a significant word on that line that they were supposedly thinking of.

Wanted to remind you that the introductory price for René Lavand’s Three Bread Crumbs download will expire next Tuesday.
►Three Bread Crumbs:
René Lavand’s multiphase routine with three breadcrumbs and a small cup. You continually place two of the breadcrumbs into the cup and one in your pocket, but when the cup is tipped over three breadcrumbs roll out. This is repeated many times and it gets more and more impossible each time. Even when the spectator puts the breadcrumbs into the cup they still come back. As a finale all the breadcrumbs vanish.

Stay happy, Meir
PS: Although I had a lot of ideas for new routines, bits, and jokes for my stage show during the downtime I will not be debuting them this year. I need to put the old act back together first. Luckily, I have tons of video and audio of it that I can re-learn from. And a 32-page script to get reacquainted with.
