Underground Magician is a phrase that you hear often. Sorry to disappoint you but it does not mean that the magician lives in a cave. It usually refers to someone who is passionate, knowledgeable, creative, skillful, and usually very secretive. The person is also generally not well known to the magic community.
One such person made an appearance around 25 years ago, shot a highly regarded instructional video, and then disappeared. He recently resurfaced and is about to release a major book about cheating and cheaters called “Thieving Bastards: True Confessions of the World’s Greatest Cheats.” The magician is Andrew Wimhurst, who has been slowly releasing some of the stories and teasers from the upcoming book in his blogs and emails. Fascinating stuff, you can read some of the archives and subscribe to his emails: HERE
Not coincidentally, I happen to own the rights to that 25-year-old video, just upscaled it and am releasing it as a download. It features advanced card magic with gambling themes that I think most of you would enjoy. The video is called, “Card Artistry: A Professional Gambling Act.”
►Card Artistry:
Andrew Wimhurst is an artist with a deck of cards. The video begins with a thirty-minute Gambling Act that Andrew performs and explains. This is your chance to learn some of the most impressive, advanced card magic you are likely to see. Great presentations, routining and techniques.
Routines performed and explained: Cheater’s Aces, Spread ‘Em, Ultimate Topsy-Turvy Aces, Spectator Estimates The Aces, Expert At The Bridge Table, Wimhurst Poker Deal, How To Cheat At 21, Aussie Cooler, and Johnny Mnemonic.
Techniques which are meticulously explained within routines are too numerous to list but here are a few: Tabled Slip Cut, Shuffle Stack, Triple Cut Revelation, Versa Switch, Pinkie Count, Up The Ladder, Cutting Revelation, Faro Shuffle, Pop-Out Revelation, Hofzinser Under Spread Cull, Jog Shuffle, Multiple Shift, Fan Peek, Fan Force, Deck Switch, One Handed Top Palm, and more.

I also just received another shipment of the Three Burr Kirigami Cards that immediately sold out. During the week I realized that these three-dimensional sculptures would make great table centerpieces at events and shows that people can keep as gifts. You can even tie them into a presentation about topology or impossible objects as they relate to magic. Two other ideas from my friends who recommended they be used as Christmas Tree ornaments and to have them hanging from the ceiling like chimes.
►Three Burr Kirigami Cards:
A Burr puzzle is a 3D puzzle that is usually made of wood or metal pieces that have notches that interlock to create a unique object. Kirigami is a category of Origami where cuts are allowed along with the folds.
This unique topological object combines both Burr and Kirigami technology to create a three-card interlocking sculpture where the cards are going through each other in an impossible way.
You get a deck of the three necessary cards to allow you to interlock them in a specific way. They can be assembled in front of your friends and given out as memorable souvenirs that they can show their friends and speak about what you made for them.

►BACK IN STOCK:
Continuing with the theme of gambling routines, cheating techniques and devices here are two items that continually sell out that just arrived.
►Art Of Switching Decks:
Roberto Giobbi teaches you dozens of methods and strategies on how to switch decks standing, seated, with and without a jacket — using shrewd psychology, not knuckle-busting sleights or special gimmicks or apparatus.
The only things required to do these professional switches are decks of cards and your pockets. You will learn all the methods for imperceptibly switching decks, along with the psychological principles behind them; principles that allow you to apply and modify deck switching techniques to suit any circumstance.

►The Card Craftsman:
The Card Craftsman is a versatile cutting device for crafting your own gimmicked cards.
Its functions include: Horizontal, vertical, and diagonal cutting for half-card effects. Circular cutting. Cutting single trapezoid cards, short cards, and narrow cards for key card effects. Also includes a pressure card function that is used to secure and bond just-crafted gimmicked cards or even repair entire decks.
