My second appearance on Masters of Illusion ran this past Saturday where I performed David Roth’s Eraser Coin. You may have noticed my superpower reference.
The reason was that Dean (who played Superman) and I set up an exchange at the beginning where I said that being a close-up magician you develop superpowers… and dean laughed as he said something like, “I used to have superpowers!” Then I went into the routine.
If you missed my spot, you can watch it: HERE
Jeff Sheridan is my friend. We hung out for a while, discussed magic, what makes good magic, and artistic magic. He was also very secretive about methods, and obsessive about everything he did.
Jeff and his shows were way ahead of their time and influenced a generation of magicians.
His friend Jim Moore, who was also an artist and photographer, just put together a beautifully photographed book with 19 essays and stories by the people who know him and have been influenced by him.
Since I had access to two of the contributors, I had them sign the books. This is the only place you can get autographed copies by Jim Moore and Mark Setteducati.
I also just received my third shipment of the Magician Badge which I love carrying with me and re-introduced at my lecture last weekend.
►Visual Alchemy: The Magic Life of Jeff Sheridan:
Jeff’s friend Jim Moore, who is an outstanding photographer, decided to put together and tribute book about Jeff and his magic. The book features many rarely seen photographs of Jeff working the streets between 1976-1989 and is filled with many essays about Jeff from his friends.
Contributors include: Lance Burton, John Strausbaugh, Jim R Moore, Jeff McBride, Peter Samelson, Ken Weber, Montague Chadbourne, Michael Lee, Candice Sheridan, George Robinson, Adam Cardone, Kevin C. Carr, Phillippe Petit, Jim Sisti, Mark Setteducati, Jens Thorwachter-Jeton, Richard Kaufman, and Mark Levy.

►Eraser Coin:
The eraser coin is the most devious and easiest of the many David Roth creations. It combines an optical illusion with a great premise. Many people consider it his greatest routine.
You show a coin and then using an eraser you begin rubbing the edge of the coin until it slowly starts disintegrating. You do the same to the other end of the coin until the round coin begins to look like a triangle. You then start erasing the face of the coin until it becomes blurry… except for the area that you were holding with your fingers. The unique looking coin you are left with is now examinable.

►Magician Badge:
This is a real Magician Badge that was fashioned on the badges used by law enforcement agencies around the world. It adds a level credibility to magicians while at the same time adding humor to your introductions. It is a great icebreaker.
The next time you walk up to strangers you can pull out the badge as you say your name and title of Magician. It causes a moment of panic followed by relief and laughter.
This badge was designed and manufactured from scratch. The amount of magical detail is incredible. If you look closely you will see Doves, Cups & Balls, Magic Wands, Playing Cards, Japanese Coins, and even two different reveals you can incorporate into your routines.

►OUR LATEST RELEASE:
►Fusion Coins:
Routines with impossible objects as their surprise ending always over-perform. This is one of Michael Rubinstein’s favorites.
The basic routine features you handing two coins to your friends for examination (a Quarter and a Penny) as you explain the different metals they are made of.
You then place the Penny on top of the Quarter and after a little squeeze the penny sinks into the quarter and is fused inside. The odd new coin can then be examined.
You pick up the coin, give it a little shake and the penny falls out leaving everything examinable and ordinary.
