I hope some of you got to see my first appearance on the Masters Of Illusion series. You may have recognized the piece as the Twisting Arm Illusion. This is the exact way I have been performing it since the 1980s.
If you missed the show, it is available on demand at multiple streaming platforms and if you want to catch my segment it is available: HERE
On Saturday June 17 I will be heading into Queens for the first NYC based magic convention in more than a decade. I will be presenting a new lecture with some new material, performing some of my classics in the close-up show, and even serving as an emcee.
Also appearing at the convention are Chris Capehart, Joe Rindfleisch, Rod Chow, Holden Summers, and Myron The Magnificent.
Doors open at 9am. My lecture is scheduled for 10am. I will open with a new card routine that I have been tweaking since I was a teenager and will tip for the first time.
Info: HERE
Take a look at this card across routine. It is likely the cleanest you will ever encounter.
►Thought Of Card Across:
This is a very clean and direct looking thought of card across routine where you show ten black-faced and ten red-faced cards. A spectator mentally selects any of the black cards.
Without any fancy moves, the chosen card vanishes from the pack of black cards and shows up amongst the other pack of red cards as the only black card there.
Practically self-working and can be used on stage or for close-up.

►Twisting Arm Illusion:
This is an impromptu routine, which is easy to do and uses absolutely no props. The magician asks a spectator to copy his actions. Both place their hands palm down on the table and begin turning them in a clockwise direction. The spectator turns his hand part way, while the magician turns his hand in a full circle! One and a half times!
This routine must be seen to be believed. On many occasions people have been so shocked that they actually screamed.

►Zodiac Coin:
This is an excellent and self-working routine where you apparently read a spectator’s mind by telling them what Zodiac symbol they are thinking of and predict what card they were going to select.
The basic routine (without the procedure) is of having a spectator think of a Zodiac symbol and its number. You then reveal the symbol and show that you predicted the card at the thought-of number.

►Fusion Coins:
Routines with impossible objects as their surprise ending always over-perform. This is one of Michael Rubinstein’s favorites.
The basic routine features you handing two coins to your friends for examination (a Quarter and a Penny) as you explain the different metals they are made of.
You then place the Penny on top of the Quarter and after a little squeeze the penny sinks into the quarter and is fused inside. The odd new coin can then be examined.
You pick up the coin, give it a little shake and the penny falls out leaving everything examinable and ordinary.

“To reap the fullest of enjoyment and worth from magic as a hobby the magician must fully understand the ‘whys’ of magic. It is not enough just to know how to do tricks.”
