How do you turn one of the best visual coin tricks into a mentalism routine? Any ideas? I don’t have any either. So, I enlisted the services of the multi-award-winning mentalist Richard Busch to solve the problem. Here is what he had to say about David Roth’s Eraser Coin:
Looking at this from a mentalist’s or psychic entertainer’s perspective, I’ve gone a very different way with it, to a very different destination. In my presentation, I always seek to create an imaginary coin via the Power of Suggestion. My premise is to produce an imaginary coin out of nowhere, essentially do David’s routine, and then the imaginary coin… or rather what’s left of it… vanishes into nothingness. In other words, back to where it came from… a mere figment of the imagination. There never really was a real, solid coin to hand out for anyone to look at. Was there? And yet, everyone saw it. Or did they? Well, that’s the mystery as I see it, and how I perform it.

I just receive a shipment of Twister Magic’s latest release where a dollar bill turns into a hundred, then into a credit card and the card changes into a different card. I was thinking that it would be a nice interlude piece where you explain the diminishing buying power of money and how everything is slowly going digital.
►Get Money:
A self-contained visual quickie where a US Dollar visually changes into a US $100 bill and then into a credit card. As a kicker ending you turn the credit card into a completely different one.
Comes complete and ready to go with fake bills, a fake VISA card and a fake AMEX card. It is assembled using the special magnetic system, but they also teach you how to take it apart and replace the credit cards with your own.

I was very saddened to hear about the passing of my old friend Obie O’Brien (June 3, 1932-September 11, 2021). I met and befriended Obie at the very first magic convention I ever attended, the 1978 Tannen Jubilee, where he was working at the Morrissey Magic booth.
People cannot comprehend the impact he has had in the advancement of, and the respect that close-up magic enjoys worldwide, and the connections, friendships, and partnerships he was instrumental in cultivating.
For a quick biography of Obie’s life and career go: HERE
Little known fact: Obie was the official scorer of the historic, “Miracle On Ice,” 1980 Olympic Hockey game between the US and Russia that was made into a hugely successful movie (I believe his name even appears in the credits): Miracle!
Stay happy, Meir
