MyMagic eNewsletter #1,313
June 22, 2025
Craig Petty interviewed me last week for his YouTube channel. I understand that magicians are finding the interview inspiring and educational. The interview starts out with my origin story (which is more unbelievable than the Marvel Universe characters’) and shifts to everything magic.
Discussions included how to overcome adversity, how to create magic, how to stand out, my evolution through the NYC magic scene, the many magicians I have met, my lack of goals, why I produce what I do, thoughts about the magic market, the future of magic, some techniques discussed, some magic performed, and so much more. I hope you enjoy finding out how I think and function. I feel that I shared a lot of valuable and interesting information: HERE
In the interview I mentioned a ring trick I created in the 1970s. I actually taught it at a recent lecture and have a video tutorial for it. Decided to let you buy it for “0” money until Friday.
►Ring Through Finger:
This is a quickie that Meir first started performing while in his teens, when he was creating his Finger Fantasies act. He showed it to Harry Lorayne, who wrote it up and eventually published it in Apocalypse in 1992. It has since spawned dozens of variations.
You begin by placing a borrowed ring on your ring finger and sliding it down to the base. You then impossibly move the ring from your ring finger onto your pinkie… Seemingly penetrating both. Everything is examinable and can be borrowed.

I have been receiving and replenishing many of the coin routines you have been asking me about, especially some of the rare silver versions. Will list four of them below.
►Holesome Coins: Japanese Edition:
The basic routine involves three coins. A Japanese coin with a hole in it, a small African coin with a hole in it, and a Walking Liberty silver half dollar. The first phase begins with an impossible single coin transposition, followed by an even more impossible two for one coin transposition, with a final phase where the silver coin jumps back from your pocket, is used to vanish the two other coins, and can be handed out for examination.

►Dual Position Copper Silver Copper:
Connie Haden’s original Silver And Two Copper Transposition is a classic of coin magic. This new gimmicked version is likely the best.
What Ted did was take the classic set of coins and infused them with his DPS (Dual Position Magnetic System). The custom magnetic system allows you to do all the basic and classic routines plus many more displays and sequences that were never possible before.

►Obake Quarter Set:
Kreis is best known for his exceptionally powerful magnetic coins that can be used for some incredible seeming magic. The coins are so strong that they can attract each other through your hand, a deck of cards, or even through most tables.
“Obake” means ghost in Japanese, and this “ghost” coins set allows you to do some clean and impossible looking routines that cannot be done with other similar gimmicks.

►Dual Position Triple Split:
There have been many versions released by many different companies, but most are basically the same. Until now…
What Ted Bogusta created is a magnetic system he calls Dual Position which uses specially designed and manufactured magnets that allow the magnetic coins to overlap without aligning. This system allows you to place the overlapping coins in your hands, on the table, or even in the spectators’ hands.

►MY MAGIC’S LATEST RELEASE:
►WOW 7: Kreskin Edition:
This is a very limited The Amazing Kreskin Edition that includes two books from his personal inventory.
It is an ideal way to present a mentalism routine while discussing the most famous mentalist in history and justifying the use of the two hardcover books.
You can read the spectator’s mind and write down the word they are thinking of. Ask them to yell out the word they are thinking of, then show the audience the word you wrote. They match.
But it is not over yet. As an afterthought have the spectator think of the last word on that page. You can now proceed to dramatically spell out the thought of word for a double miracle.

PS: The one piece of advice I didn’t get to share is my variation of Tamariz’ advice to me which was his variation of Frakson’s advice to him. My version is, “Do what you love, do it to the best of your ability, and everything else will work out.”
“Should easier methods suggest themselves, by all means adopt them, but take care that they do not obscure or confuse the effect.”
