MyMagic eNewsletter #1,201

Christian Schenk (card-shark) was one of the three guests of honor at this year’s 4F convention. He presented a lecture and had a booth at the convention.
One of the items that he often brings to the 4F convention are the custom souvenir decks that he designed. At the end of the convention, I bought all he had left. The 50th anniversary decks sold out immediately after I added them to the site. The earlier red and green decks I am offering here for the first time.
At his lecture he discussed an early release that was just upgraded. I never knew about these, liked them and bought them as well. Hope to introduce you to them in an upcoming newsletter.
Also introducing another one of Dan Garrett’s little-known booklets about how to increase leads at tradeshows. Also applies to magic conventions.
►FFFF 2015 Playing Cards:
In 2015 Card-Shark (Christian Schenk) designed two special souvenir decks of cards for the attendees of the 4F Convention (Fechter’s Finger Flicking Frolic) which is the “Original Close-Up Magic Convention” that was held on April 22-25, 2015, in Batavia, New York.
The two decks are identical except that one had red backs and the other had green backs.

►Ten Secrets To Increase Leads:
The full title is, “The Ten Secrets To Increase The Leads At Your Next Trade Show by 200%”. Dan wrote this booklet for his trade show clients and potential customers. It is a guide to how to increase leads and business at trade shows. It is also information that magicians can offer their clients to increase their value.
As Dan wrote in the introduction: “I have spent hundreds of hours observing traffic patterns at trade shows in order to determine why some booths seem to attract a steady stream of visitors while others remain almost deserted. I have found that there are certain rules that can be followed which will dramatically increase the leads you can get at your next trade show.”

►D. Deck:
A very unique deck of gaffed cards was printed by the United States Playing Card Company to make this trick possible.
You think of a card and your spectator freely thinks of one. Both cards are removed from the deck. Amazingly when the rest of the deck is spread on the table all the other cards are seen to be blank. With the two thought-of cards being the only ones that are visibl
As a kicker ending a single card is then shown to have all the other cards printed on it.

►BACK IN STOCK:
One of the best sellers for me at the 4F were my Japanese Coins & Shell Sets. I think it was mostly because I was demonstrating it with my new “super easy” coins across routine that I teach in the tutorial and demonstrate on the trailer. I also brought a bunch of extra matching coins for sale which many have been asking for and are now available again on the web.
►Japanese Coins & Shell Set:
Our designer, Akemi Yoshida, found ancient Japanese Coins that would look good for magic and drastically redesigned them to look modern. This coin is based on the Taisho Era coin from around 100 years ago.
The coins were enlarged to US Half Dollar size, they were stamped in brass, and were given an antique gold finish. The expanded shell was manufactured by making duplicate coins that were a little larger than a half dollar and then a lathe was used to hollow them out and create a perfect shell with full coverage. It is so good that you can show both sides of the shelled coin and you can’t tell that it is there.
The set includes four regular Japanese coins and a matching shell. They are half-dollar size which is around 1.2-inches in diameter. Extra coins are also available.

A few adventures are coming up this weekend. I will be presenting a chunk of my stage act in the Poconos on Sunday. The show is titled Abracadabra Magic & Wonder and I will be joined by many of my friends, it is a benefit for the Houdini Museum.

On Saturday I plan on attending the bi-annual AutomataCon. The only magician featured this year is Richard Garriott, who as you many know is the only magician who ever spent time in the International Space Station… or outer space for that matter. Info: HERE
►OUR LATEST RELEASE:
►Traits & Emotions:
This routine begins with having your friend think of any person that they know something about. It could be a friend, a relative, an acquaintance or someone famous.
You then show them ten cards which have a list of 100 different human characteristics. You have them find a characteristic that reminds them of the person they are thinking of.
After a little byplay you will know the word they are thinking of, and you can reveal it anyway you like.

“One of the biggest mistakes made with most demonstrations is trying to give out too much information. This will only confuse the people watching.”
