Dai Vernon’s Ace-Two-Three routine and Edward Marlo’s Elevator effects are classics of card magic with many variations in print.

The most basic effect by Marlo is called Penetration and was first published in 1948, where a three is placed on the bottom of the deck and jumps to the top, the two is placed on top of the deck and jumps to the bottom, and finally the Ace is lost in the middle of the deck and jumps to the top. The original writeup is included in David Solomon’s Elevator Card Trick PDF and is worth more than what the whole thing sells for. It is a routine you will use for the rest of your life.

If you like coin magic, like to perform in intimate situations, don’t mind practicing, this informal download by Geoff Latta will give you much pleasure once mastered, and along the way while being mastered. Of course you don’t have to learn the entire routine. The individual parts are also satisfying.

►Slow Motion Coin Vanish:

Geoff Latta’s Slow Motion Coin Vanish was one of the coin sequences that magicians always asked him to show them. It was choreographed to be performed in front of a small group. Ideally one or two people who are in front of you.

In this casual behind the scenes breakout session Geoff Latta teaches the techniques he uses for this unique vanish sequence. The sequence begins by you pretending to break the coin in half, then showing that both halves have vanished, different displays are then shown until the coin is eventually reproduced.

►Printing On Demand:

This is one of David Solomon’s favorite packet tricks. It full of visual transformations and multiple climaxes.

Themed around how everything is now being printed on demand… even playing cards. You place a blank Bicycle card to one side.

You then show four Jokers with blank backs. One by one you print four different colorful backs on them. After the four backs are printed, you magically cause all the Joker faces to vanish, leaving you with four blank cards with different backs. As a surprise ending, the blank card you placed aside at the beginning now has all four Jokers.

►BACK IN STOCK:

I am not sure why I got more of these inexpensive decks. I seem to lose money on every sale. It may be a plot by the manufacturer to bankrupt us. A $15 deck that can cost $7 to ship because of the large and heavy box they put it in!

►Ghost Deck:

You begin by showing a deck of cards where all the backs have different designs. You select two cards for yourself and hand the rest of the deck to a spectator.

The spectator freely deals as many cards as they want, face down, stopping whenever they choose. You place your first card face up into the deck to mark where the spectator stopped.

Again, the spectator continues dealing the cards, stopping wherever they wish, and you place your second card, face up, into the deck to mark the spot where they stopped at.

Despite the spectator being in full control and stopping whenever they want, your two cards have the exact same back design as the two cards they stopped at!

But it doesn’t end there-when you turn all four cards face up, the faces of all the cards match perfectly too!

And now for the final, mind-blowing twist…You flip the rest of the deck over to reveal that every single card has a blank face! Everything is now examinable.
