Many years ago, I used to regularly perform the multiplying hot dogs. I even released the trick that I used to get into it with. You may remember my Hot Doggie! Where an origami dog on my lapel made of flash paper burst into flames and changed into a hot dog. Get it? Hot Doggie!

This was before Al Cohen and Dan Garrett popularized the multiplying sponge bananas which everyone began performing. Even me.

I just released Dan’s tutorial for the multiplying bananas and pickles as a download. While editing it I realized that I was doing it wrong my entire life. His handling is easier, looks better and even allows you to secretly hold a surprise ending during the entire routine. Get this if you already own a set of multiplying items either made of sponge or plastic.

If you don’t already own a set of sponge bananas, I was able to find a set that is pretty good and you can get one of those below. As a bonus I am including Dan’s tutorial with that purchase so don’t buy both.

►World Famous Banana & Pickle Tricks:

The Multiplying Bananas have become a classic of magic. It was based on the Multiplying Sausages routine and came into existence when Al Cohen found a guy who was willing to hand-cut and paint sponges. Later Dan Garrett, with permission, taught himself how to make them, and popularized the routines, added the baby bananas and released routines with sponge pickles, carrots, and teeth.

On this video tutorial Dan performs his Banana Routine during a live children’s show and then explains in detail how to perform the moves and the routine. He then performs the version using sponge pickles and explains all the details of that routine. Both routines use the same techniques and structures.

►Multiplying Sponge Bananas:

This set of bananas mimics Dan Garrett’s original ideas and includes his baby bananas bonus ending. The basic routine has you multiplying the bananas and putting them away. As a finale all the bananas you produced vanish and the spectator who was holding the last two bananas now has three extra baby bananas in their hand.

►Bronze Enigma:

A clever card revelation that can be projected on any surface.

You begin by introducing a special brass antique which has a mirror finish on one side and zodiac symbols on the other. The mirror is handed for examination as a card the Queen of Hearts is selected by your friend.

Although any light source can be used the easiest would be the flashlight on your phone is shined on the mirror which reflects an image of the selected card on any surface.

This is a new visual principle since the image cannot be seen on the mirror even though it reflects it.

►Infinity Chalice:

This is a terrific routine that combines many principles into one cohesive routine that is easy to follow and easy to perform.

You begin by showing a unique looking double-ended chalice and four coins. The four coins are placed into the top of the chalice and one-at-a-time they seem to penetrate the top of the chalice and magically work their way to the bottom in the cleanest and most direct way possible.

An incredible 3-phase routine with fast-paced magic, followed by a surprise ending.

PS: Was sorry to hear about the passing of my old friend Hiawatha, many people forgot that I was driving him to the airport when I had my big car accident 40 years ago. Luckily, he came out of that unscathed with just a few bruises.
