Turk Pipkin, long time friend and partner of Harry Anderson writes a wonderful article about Harry Anderson and the Left-Handed League in the Sep. 3 issue of the Austin Chronicle. This is the most truthful account of Anderson’s early career – You have never read most of this before. Pipkin gives a wonderful and frank account of their careers. In describing their transition from the streets he wrote, “It did not take us long to tire of passing the hat, but since the street was the hardest gig going, it was a simple matter to switch to clubs, theatres or college union shows that actually told you how much you were going to make before the show.” To read “Harry Anderson, the Left-Handed League, and Me: What the Right Hand Is Doing” click: HERE.(9/13)

Discussing his career after graduating college he said, “…I began to look at my magic in a deeper way… I wanted to focus in on ‘close-up’ magic, which is doing magic for a small group of people using cards, coins and other common items. Hurricane Floyd flew over the MagicTimes and Meir Yedid Magic offices in Bergen County, New Jersey on Sep. 16 leaving us with minor flooding and damage. All orders have continued to be shipped. Unfortunately the AT&T switching station which is located about a mile from our offices was flooded causing phone services in the area to be down. This gave us a chance to practice for the upcoming Y2K problem with no phones, no e-mail, no beeper, no cell phone, no internet, no orders, nobody for miles accepting credit cards, as they have no way of getting them approved, banks not being able to cash checks, many stores with no electricity or gas, malls shut down because the parking lots are under water and my favorite — watching ducks and geese swim across the highway! Every effort has been made to have MagicTimes not miss it’s daily update #627.(9/18)
