As I was preparing Geoff Latta’s Fisted download, which is very good, as you can see in the trailer (HERE), I realized that some of you may not own the single gimmick that is used.
It is an expanded English Penny shell. I bought a bunch of the inexpensive Tango ones (which are good) but do not include a matching Penny that you need for this routine. If you already own old English Pennies (which most of us do) you will likely need to clean the shell, so it matches in age and color.
While on the English Penny hunt, I was also able to find you some nice Jumbo three-inch replicas should you want to do other routines with the Pennies, like David Roth’s Flurry.

►Fisted:
This is a beautiful and simple transposition that happens in your spectator’s hand.
You cleanly show a silver coin and a copper coin. You place the silver coin into the spectator’s fist and the copper coin on top of their fist. You then place your hand on the copper coin, and when you lift your hand, the silver coin is now on top of their hand and the copper coin is inside their fist. They can examine both coins.

►English Penny Shell:
The Expanded English Penny Shell usually sells on its own (even though the ads in all the other magic shops promise four extra coins…you will not get them).
So, you will need to get your own coins to use with the shell. The shells were made from used coins which are dark in color as pictured. You can, however, use the standard coin cleaning methods on the shell so it matches your coins.

►Bacon Jumbo English Penny:
These are likely the best Jumbo three-inch coins that are available. They has nothing to do with bacon or food… that is just the company that made them.
They are made of heavy metal and the engraving is excellent. It looks like the real thing… except for the size!
The Jumbo English Pennies are replicas of Queen Elizabeth English Pennies. US Kennedy Half Dollars are also available.

►Pen Through Coin:
The pen or cigarette through quarter is a classic of magic. There have been many versions in print and many other versions marketed.
This is an easy low-tech method that is very easy to do. You begin with a US Quarter, push a Sharpie Marker through it, show both sides of the coin, remove the Sharpie and the coin is restored.

Just got another case of the book I published a while ago about the second deal. It received great reviews and is recommended often to people who want to learn and practice second dealing.

Follow Simon Lovell as he takes you step-by-step through the art of the second deal. He discusses more nuances, subtleties and variations than you probably ever knew existed. He doesn’t sugarcoat the work but gives you all the tools you need to master this powerful sleight. But, he doesn’t stop there. Once you begin mastering the second deal you are treated to some routines which you can practice. And as a finale Simon discusses some of the second deal’s more nefarious uses.
As a special bonus, the book includes many historical gambling-themed graphics as well as the history of the second deal, which dates back to the 1500s. Also included are reproductions of important contributions to the second deal, including excerpts from Robert-Houdin’s “Card-Sharping Exposed” and S. W. Erdnase’s “Expert At The Card Table.”
