At a recent Magic/Math conference Raj Madhok released a book with his impromptu close-up mentalism routines. I was trying to get a bunch at the 4F Convention, but they sold out. He just sent me a bunch and agreed to autograph all of them.

These are direct and practical routines that are easy to learn, and I am sure you will be able to fool magicians as well as your friends and relatives with these devious hidden methods. Although the hidden methods use math it is not obvious during performances and the presentations are conversational.

Also just received a few more triple autographed Marlo books. I thought that there were only going to be 16 of these but it turned out that Bill Malone ended up signing an additional 17 copies while nobody was paying attention. So, Randy and Kevin ended up driving around 100-miles each, meeting for lunch and signing the remaining copies. They agreed to let us have a few more.

Pocket ATM is a quick and easy way to produce some cash out of two playing cards that look like a cash machine.

You show both sides of the cards and pretend to enter a cash amount and pin number on the card. The bill you asked for slowly rises from between the cards and can be immediately spent.

►Coin Copier:

This is an ingenious self-working coin box routine that Christian Scherer created in the 1980s. Since that time the manufacturing technology and the availability of the gimmicks used has advanced and the current version works perfectly.

The basic routine involves a metal box which is referred to as a tiny counterfeiting machine. You dump the four coins out of the box; a Japanese coin, a Swiss coin, a British coin and a US coin. Using the Japanese coin as a sample each coin is placed in the box and one at a time, as the box is waved over the Japanese coin, the coin inside instantly turns into a duplicate of the Japanese coin. This is repeated until all four coins have turned into Japanese coins and everything is examinable.

►Time Warp Wallet:

The main routine has you name your favorite card and your friend name any other card. Your card is lost anywhere in the deck as you attempt to cut to it. You cut to a card which you claim is your favorite, place it in the wallet as you remove some money. You then offer your friend the opportunity to win the money if they can cut to their card. Of course, they can’t, and you then explain why. When the wallet is opened you show that the card you placed inside was your favorite card and the card that was behind a clear window the entire time was their freely named card.
