I recently came across a special set of lecture notes by Dan Garrett that feature four of the routines he used when performing for laypeople. I don’t think these routines were published anywhere else. Although they are intermediate, one of them will take a while to master.

This is a very scarce set of Dan Garrett lecture notes that only teaches four routines. All four of the routines are ones he uses when doing walk-around.
Routines include: Is Worth Two In The Hand, The Ultimate Card Revelation, The Brainwave Connection, and Beer Bottle Piggy Bank.

►Bigger Wands:
Although this is not a magic routine it is a killer running gag for any show that involves a child assisting you.
The set comes with seven foam magic wands that kids love, ranging in size from 6″ to more than 7 feet.
Bigger Wands can turn a 10-second trick into a 5-minute routine that kids and parents will remember you for. “Hey, you’re the magician with the gigantic wands!” …has been heard many times!
The largest wand is great for photos that will, in turn, keep people talking about your show and create social media opportunities.

►Holesome Coins: Japanese Edition:
The basic routine involves three coins. A Japanese coin with a hole in it, a small African coin with a hole in it, and a Walking Liberty silver half dollar. The first phase begins with an impossible single coin transposition, followed by an even more impossible two for one coin transposition, with a final phase where the silver coin jumps back from your pocket, is used to vanish the two other coins, and can be handed out for examination.
Comes complete with a special set of gimmicked coins, matching regular coins, and access to the online video tutorials and as a special bonus you will get an additional tutorial by Meir Yedid.

►The Mouse That Roared:
Dan Garrett’s routine is quick and visual where a small mouse (puppet) runs up and down your arm, fingers, across your shoulders, attacks you, kisses you, interacts with you, bites you, it is fed, and so much more.
This streamlined mouse (originally called Judy The Mouse) does not use any fur or animal products in the manufacture of the puppet. The mouse also includes a small squeaker that is embedded inside, so all the squeaks are self-contained and are not dangerous to use like the original warblers.

►BACK IN STOCK:
Had lunch with Michael Rubinstein the other day and got a few more of his bears and convictions. He also told me about his great new release that is scheduled for April.
►Migrate:
Migrate is the routine Michael came up with after releasing his now best-selling book Rubinstein Coin Magic (now in its fourth printing). It is a comedic, coins across, routine that is full of puns and new techniques.
Although it does not use any gaffs it does use some unique, attention getting, and funny props. Unlike most coins across routines that last less than a minute this is designed as a three-minute showpiece that is themed around bears!
Watching the trailer will give you an idea of the routine and the built-in comedy.

►Conviction Prediction:
This is a mentalism/coincidence routine using coins and Poker chips.
You begin by displaying three Poker chips and letting three friends select one for themselves. You then show them four small envelopes containing four different coins and they select one of those as well. Throughout the process you give them a chance to change their mind because they are all free choices. The envelopes are now opened revealing the different coins that were inside. You then reveal the surprise ending.
Even though they had every opportunity to switch chips and envelopes… when the chips are turned over, you show that they have permanent photographs of the matching selected coins embedded in them. Everything is now examinable.
