MyMagic eNewsletter #1,258
December 11, 2024
One of my Magic Live releases is back in stock after it sold out several times. You can read what I previously wrote about it HERE and HERE.
It was one of Sol Stones favorite quick routines with gimmicks. It was also reviewed in this month’s Genii and you can read the review at the bottom of the product page.
►Cointemplate:
It is an impossible routine that can be performed as a stand-alone piece or as part of a longer coin set.
The basic routine involves two coins. A Kennedy Half Dollar, a copper English Penny and a see-through glass plate.
Your friend holds the glass plate between their hands as you balance the two coins on your fingertips. You place your hand with the coins under the plate so all can be seen. In an instant one of the coins penetrates the plate so there is only one coin under the plate while the other is sitting on top of the plate.

The last newsletter was accidentally sent on Friday morning which kept it from reaching most of you in a convenient manner. You can read it: HERE
Also including the stuff, I wrote about below.
►Balancing Quarter:
Using the standard method, you show two US Quarters and try to balance one on top of the other. By holding one coin between your thumb and fingers you can place the second coin on its edge, and it will stay there. If you want, you can even turn the coin once it is balanced.
This is a quick stunt you can always carry with you and use. Ideally you remove a pocketful of change, pick up the two gimmicked quarters and proceed with the stunt. The coins are not examinable, but you can easily add them back to the pile of coins and put them back in your pocket. If necessary, you can remove two different ones at the end.

►Games You Can’t Lose:
This funny, smart and totally wicked book unveils the tricks behind the cons, swindles, and wagers that separate fools and their money in streets, bars, carnivals, casinos and racetracks every day. Learn how not to get suckered — or at least how to laugh if you do!
Written by Harry Anderson and Turk Pipkin and first published in 1989 for the general public. This edition was released by Burford Books, Inc. in 2001. An 8.5×5.5-inch, softcover, 162-pages with many illustrations and photographs. Every copy has been hand-autographed by Harry Anderson.

►BACK IN STOCK:
Got a few more of these bill penetrations back in stock. You will notice that I decided to do the trailer for this Astor product but wanted to remind you that this will come with a bonus video tutorial from Astor and written instructions from me. Both immediately will appear in your media library, and you can’t get them anywhere else.
►Longitudinal Axis Penetration:
This is a great idea with a well-made prop you can carry with you.
Show a clear plastic case that can hold two US bills (any denomination and they can even be borrowed). You place the two bills side by side and then fold the case in half. Once folded the bills are seen overlapping as you point out a slit on both sides. Using a borrowed credit card, or your own, you can now visually push that card right through both bills apparently ripping them. But when the bills are removed from the case they are undamaged. And best of all… everything is examinable before and after the performance.

PS: Was sad to hear about the passing of my old friend The Amazing Kreskin, just short of his 90th Birthday. Funeral arrangements can be found on my personal Facebook page.
“A coin is especially fascinating to do magic tricks with because its value is respected by everyone. Making something of value disappear draws extra excitement from an audience.”
