Lance Burton takes his traveling show to Japan on May 3-5 with two performances per day. This is the first time that his full evening show, “Lance Burton: Master Magician,” will run in Japan. It will be held at the Tokyo International Forum in Hall A in Tokyo. Tickets began selling on Mar. 4 for 9,000-10,000 Japanese Yen (around US $100). John Tudor’s video series “The Magic Is In You ®” received a Silver Telly Award at the 21st Annual Telly Awards for Outstanding non-broadcast video production. More than 11,000 films and videos competed for the honors. Tudor’s first three videos (Goals, Choices, and Dreams) which were released in January target elementary school students — combining entertainment and positive imaging to educate. David Copperfield to receive the “Living Legend” medal by the Library of Congress during their bicentennial celebration on Monday Apr. 24 where he is scheduled to perform. Copperfield is quoted, “I’m a big fan of the Library of Congress. They have an enormous number of sources for magic and recommendations for magic, and they have half of Harry Houdini’s original library. I’ve got the other half – 80,000 different things, not just books but tons of stuff. I keep it in a secret location in Area 51.” He also implied that he would like to get married and have children. Magicana For Collectors owned and operated by George Daily since 1972 in York, PA was one of the main suppliers of used and out of print books and magazines. Daily also maintains one of the largest magic book and magazine collections in the US. A couple of months ago Daily decided to give up the book and magazine business and sold his entire inventory, a truck load, to Steven Zuehlke from St. Louis who intends on selling the items on ebay. Is Branson, MO becoming the next Las Vegas for magicians? New full evening magic shows come in and out of the town with Kirby VanBurch currently at the Will Rogers Theater, and Bart Rockett and The Hamners extended at the Remington Theater, with previous runs by Melinda, Dimmare and several others. Theater manager Andrew Marsh commented about the magic, “The reaction has been terrific …Magic is fun to see, no matter your age. It has a universal appeal some genres of music don’t have.
