You are invited to an historic auction and sale of rare books, magazines, catalogs, apparatus, playbills and posters from the legendary EGYPTIAN HALL MUSEUM September 23 and 24, 2000.

For 105 years, a stream of unimaginable treasures has flowed into the Egyptian Hall. During the 45-year proprietorship of David Price, three of America’s finest collections of lithographs were added: the C.A. George Newmann collection, the Cliff Hard collection and the Lee Allen Estes collection. The confluence of so much material could only result in a vast number of duplicates. The existing collections of the new owners of Egyptian Hall (George Daily and Mike Caveney) have produced even more duplicate material. These duplicates, plus a wide variety of one-of-a-kind items from the Egyptian Hall Museum, will be included in this historic sale.

Join us for an unforgettable weekend surrounded by the lithographs, books and apparatus from past masters such as: Blackstone, Carter, Chung Ling Soo, Dante, Egyptian Hall (London), Fu Manchu, Germain, Goldin, Herrmann, Jansen, Kellar, Le Roy, Talma & Bosco, Nicola, Okito, Raymond, Thurston, and dozens more.

On Saturday, September 23, 2000 beginning at 2:00 pm sharp, the doors will open for a fixed price sale of books, magazine files, apparatus, catalogs, posters and lithographs ranging in price from $10 to $25,000. The auction preview will also take place during this time.

On Sunday, September 24, beginning at 1:00 pm, an auction of at least 200 lots will commence. Featured items include complete files of Mahatma, Sphinx, Houdini’s Conjurors’ Monthly, The Magician Monthly and Al Monroe’s Magical Misc. Books include an original Jarrett, Harbin, Goldston’s Locked Books, a comprehensive selection of titles by Prof. Hoffmann and Henry Ridgley Evans; Ingleby’s Whole Art of Ledgermain and signed Houdini books. A fine selection of apparatus representing Thayer, Abbott and P & L, along with personal pieces of apparatus from Herrmann, Kellar, Thurston and Willard.

Egyptian Hall’s greatest strength has always been lithographs, posters and playbills so it should come as no surprise that they will be most prominent in this sale.
