One of the items I picked up in Vegas was the Gambler’s Ring. It is a finger ring/band that acts both as a shiner and a pegger to mark cards in play. I would only use this in a game if I had a death wish, but I think it is great for demonstration purposes if you want to explain how card cheaters of the past would gain an advantage.

I also just received a shipment of a new routine that I ordered two months ago at NEMCON when David Jonathan, of “Stroop Test” fame, showed me a prototype of an excellent self-working prediction effect where you create a perfect meal from four different restaurants and when you total your bill it matches your prediction.

    ►Ideal Meal:

A self-working routine using menu items and many free choices that lead to an impossible prediction.

Display a collection of cards with different drinks, appetizers, entrees, and desserts from a variety of restaurants. Your friend uses these as a menu to order a four-course meal. Once their choices are made, all the cards are turned over to reveal prices on the backs, with each item having a different value. Their selections are totaled, and that total matches your prediction!

    ►Gambler’s Ring:

This is a finger ring made of titanium steel that is brought to a high shine so it can be used as a mirror/shiner to see the cards as they are being dealt off the deck.

It also has a blister built in to use as a card punch so you can peg cards during play or while doing magic. Can also be used to mark, bills, envelopes or any such items.

While we are discussing gambling themed products, I was also able to get a bunch more of the most devious marked deck I ever encountered. I introduced you to these a few years ago and had them as an exclusive for quite a while. The markings are all tactile. Even though you can’t see them you can feel them. By just running your thumb across the back of a card you are immediately able to know its identity.

    ►Deadly Marked Deck:

Although it is almost impossible to see the markings, you can feel for them. It works like brail or peg work but is lightyears ahead of those systems since the tactile aspect is being applied using special ink and a printing press.

Every card is marked for value and suit. By rubbing your thumb across the back of the card you will be able to deduce its exact identity.

The cards are individually made, and the process is very time consuming.

    Stay happy, Meir

PS: I know that Zoltar sold out very fast, but more is on the way. Stay tuned.
