Wanted to remind you that Criss Angel Mindfreak will feature a live escape from and imploding building tonight in a one hour special episode on A&E. The Law & Order: Criminal Intent – Vanishing Act episode will air on NBC this week so if you didn’t see it on cable now is your opportunity on regular TV. As usual the TV Magic Guide is full of other magic on TV this week.
Last week’s news items were mostly about scientists discovering that magicians think differently than most mortals – but we knew that already! There are also stories about Criss Angel, the IBM/SAM convention, features about Harold D. Russell who passed away at the age of 86, a Women In Boxes feature and much more.
Preview Magic now features 65 free magic videos for your entertainment pleasure.
This surprising routine begins as an observation test with a handful of face up and face down cards. The audience is asked to remember as much as they can as you begin grilling them about what they saw. You then show the other side of the cards and run a second quick quiz.
Cards are then eliminated until you are left with two face down cards, one with a red back and the other with a blue back, one is a face card and one is a number card. The audience must now decide which is which. They agree that the red backed card must be the face card — but they are wrong. It turns out to be a number card. The least suspected card is now turned over to show a face but it is a three dimensional face smiling back at them. Mere words cannot convey the reaction this routine gets from audiences.
