Improved Malone’s Magic Bar to open November 1st.
After six successful years at the Boca Baton Resort and Club, Bill Malone’s “Malone’s Magic Bar” will be completely revamped. On November 1st, 2000 a new and improved version will open at the exclusive Florida luxury resort.
“Six years ago I gave the gentleman who was president of the Boca Raton Resort an idea,” explained Malone to Magic Times. “He made me a 50/50 deal and I took over a pre-existing bar in the complex, put up some magic posters and we were in business.”
Malone’s Magic Bar became the hot spot at the 1200 room resort which has nine restaurants and two nightclubs in addition to the Magic Bar. “At my place we only have magic entertainment. No singers, bands or novelty acts,” says Malone. That format will continue in the new facility. There will be three to four featured performers each evening as well as magic bartenders. Malone mentioned to Magic Times that he is seeking two or three more well seasoned magical entertainers who are interested in re-locating to Boca Raton and becoming part of the Malone’s Magic Bar team. The service staff too will be trained in a few effects, such as an appearing check presented at the conclusion of a patrons visit.
Jim Steinmeyer will design several illusions which will be incorporated in the decor. A unique “smoke sign” outside the bar will herald the venue then transform to a caricature of Bill Malone, then change again displaying show times. A floating house drink and bottle will levitate behind the bar. Visibility of stand up performances will be enhanced by the installation of video monitors throughout the area.
Wealthy investor Wayne Huizinga, whose holdings include Blockbuster Video, recently purchased the Boca Raton Resort and Club. The Improvements to Malone’s Magic Bar are part of a major program of renovation initiated by Huizinga.
The Boca Baton Resort and Club is a private resort and caters to celebrities and CEO’s of Fortune 500 companies. Malone’s Magic Bar is open 7 nights a week, from 6:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. and has a two drink minimum. Admission to Malone’s is available only to members of the Boca Raton Resort and Club or invited guests. The new facility, outfitted with marble, granite and wood will be, “the nicest and most elegant magic venue in the world,” says Malone.
