Joe Hernandez whose company Sorcerers Productions produced last year’s “Stars of Magic” show in New Jersey is back with an exhibit of rare and never before seen Houdini and Frank Garcia memorabilia. The exhibit opened on Oct. 5 at the Hillsborough Library (555 Amwell Road, Hillsborough NJ, 908-369-2200) and will run through Oct. 31. In addition to the Houdini and Garcia items there will also be select items of interest, including a very scarce first edition of I Giuochi Numericci by Fatti Arcani Palisati (Antonio Alberti), 1747. The World Alliance of Magicians (WAM) released a press release stating that Wendy’s International, American Home Products Corporation, 3M Corporation, and the Coca-Cola Company are not planning to advertise on the upcoming, “Breaking the Magician’s Code: Magic’s Biggest Secrets Finally Revealed.” WAM also stated that “Several civil lawsuits are pending against FOX Entertainment Group, Nash Entertainment, Leonard Montano (the Masked Magician exposing these secrets).” CBS MarketWatch’s Steve Gelsi followed up with a story titled “Magicians want Fox show to vanish” where he pointed out that there were three separate lawsuits filed and two of them have been dismissed. The third awaits a Cincinnati judge’s decision on a motion to dismiss. Denny Lynch, a Wendy’s spokesman told CBS that, “We weren’t intending to be on the show in the first place, it’s not part of our media plan.”(10/7)

The Shakespeare Festival/LA is presenting “Hauntings, A Shakespearean Séance” starring Eugene Burger. The play created by Eugene Burger and Peter Howard, with Max Maven as creative consultant is directed by Tom O’Horgan (Hair, Jesus Christ Superstar, Lenny) with lighting design by six-time Tony winner Jules Fisher and an original score by Kirk Nurock. The show will run Thursdays through Sundays, October 8-31 at the Center Green Theater located at the Pacific Design Center in Los Angeles, CA. Dutch illusionist Hans Klok stars in his show “Magie fur das neue Millennium” (Magic for the New Millennium) at the Schiller Theater in Berlin, Germany. The show which has been getting great reviews and selling out every night is produced by Wolfgang Bocksch who brought David Copperfield and the Spice Girls to Germany. Assisting Klok is Zarina Potapova with Carla Kama and Melissa Williams doing the Choreography (Madonna’s Choreographers). The show opened on Sep. 22 and will continue till mid-October. Among the highlights of the show is his appearing helicopter seen on the “World’s Greatest Magic.”(10/9)
