Michael Grandinetti will levitate a woman on the streets of midtown Manhattan on Tuesday Oct. 19. He promises to make a woman float high above the street as spectators surround him and are able to see the magic from every angle. Commenting about the event Grandinetti said, “This is very exciting for me to be able to debut and perform this ground-breaking type of magic in New York City. I am looking forward to seeing the reactions of the people up-close as they witness this magical event. Seeing the wonder and amazement in their eyes is what makes my career so satisfying.” This is one of the stunts scheduled as a promotion for the upcoming “The World Magic Awards” which airs this Friday on the Fox Family Channel.(10/18)

As a promotion for the upcoming World Magic Awards several outside stunts have been arranged around the US. On Tuesday Oct. 19 Franz Harary, Michael Griffin and Harley Newman will perform in New York, Chicago and Philadelphia. On Wednesday Oct. 20 Franz Harary, Robert Fellows, Michael Griffin and Will Tremont will perform in Los Angeles, Boston, Atlanta and Detroit. All performances will be in the form of escapes and they are being documented by the Guinness Book of World Records for the most number of escapes attempted in a 48-hour period. All shows are free. Andrew Martin stars in Halloween Spookatorium a modern spoof of the Ghost Shows which were the rage in the 40’s and 50’s. Proceeds from the show will benefit breast cancer research and prevention. The Rudy Coby Show at Magicopolis which runs through Oct. 31 has gotten some great press. The LA Times described the show as, “…an impressive degree of magic and no mean amount of absurdity in this freewheeling, vastly appealing entertainment, which scores high on the gross scale, to the delight of kids and adults alike.” In trying to describe one of the highlights in the show Variety reported, “…He surprises the audience into a round of shocked laughter by plunging a screwdriver into the skull of an unsuspecting man who turns out to be his assistant Atom.”
