“Siegfried & Roy: The Magic Box,” the IMAX-3D movie based on their lives is scheduled to premiere at the SONY Theatre in Lincoln Square in New York City on Jul. 29 and begins its regular run the next day. Other premieres currently scheduled are: Aug. 3 in Los Angeles and on Oct. 1 in Berlin. In conjunction with the release of the film they are launching a new website on Jul. 20 which will deal with everything about the film. The Jewish Museum in London has a new exhibition on Jewish Magic and Mysticism titled “Angels and Demons.” It tries to explore traditions of Jewish magic and mysticism in different parts of the world from ancient times to the present day. In addition to superstition and mysticism they also explore some leading Jewish magicians including Houdini, David Copperfield, and Uri Geller. The exhibit opened on May 19 and will run through Oct. 3 at the Jewish Museum (129-131 Albert Street, Camden Town, London). It opens Sun.-Thur. From 10am to 4pm. Len Vintus (Melvin Justus Given McMullen) who founded the International Brotherhood of Magicians in 1922 with Gene Gordon and holds IBM membership card #1 died on Thursday Jun. 17 in Winnipeg, Canada. He was born on Jun. 19, 1903. He was also their first president and for a short time edited the Linking Ring magazine.(6/20)
