Quarks & Quirks, the new book by Ben Harris was released officially on January 1, 2001.
This is a book full of startling and original card magic with a topological twist. If you like Card Warp, you are bound to love this material.
It’s not often that genuinely NEW ideas are presented to the fraternity. This book is brimming full of them.
Take “Space Oddity” for example. A card is slowly and fairly torn in half – widthwise. Then, the tear switches polarity and the card is now torn in half lengthwise. But here’s the killer visual – at one point, the card is torn both widthwise and lengthwise AT THE SAME TIME! You’ve just got top see how good this looks. (A series of photos depicting this astounding visual can be found in the Genii and Linking Ring ads for January and February).
THE QUARTER BACK TEAR –
A wonderful technique that you’ll play with for years. You apparently tear a card in half, so fairly, yet you end up so far ahead of your audience that you’ll be grinning from ear to ear. If you like creating your own magic, you’ll invent tons of stuff with this.
TWIST ASSIST –
A very visual method for “growing” additional corners of card. A half card grows to become a three-quarter card and then grows to become fully restored.
SPACE ODDITY –
See above for this brand new plot in card magic.
THE PARTICLE VANISH –
A selected card vanishes without trace when torn into quarters. It really is gone, nothing to steal away!
PARTICLE PHYSICS –
Following the above vanish, the signed selection appears in the previously EXAMINED deck in the spectator’s own hands.
WINK WINK –
An EXAMINABLE version of the Hoodwink Torn & Restored Card. You repeat the effect for impact and you LEAVE THE RESTORED CARD FOR EXAMINATION.
Plus, the introduction of the SIMULTANEOUS T&R SOUVENIR. Here, the value of a torn and restored souvenir is heightened due to the fact the card has been trapped between states – it is both TORN and RESTORED at the same time. A killer giveaway that will have your spectators talking about you for years.
The book runs 40 8.5 X 11 inch pages with 104 photos, perfect binding and a full colour cover.
