    MyMagic eNewsletter #954

When I was in my twenties, I used to wear an M Ring. Back then many of the leading close-up magicians and mentalists used to wear them, so naturally I had to follow suit.

Some wore silver ones, some wore gold ones, and some had stones on them. I later found out that some of those rings belonged members of secret clubs.

The ring that is pictured here is my original one. I have no idea when or where I bought it. But back then it used to fit on my right ring finger.

I recently found it while looking for something else. Coincidentally the timing could not have been better. It was a few days before I got delivery of the new Sterling Silver ones, I can offer you today.

They are currently available in four sizes, but Rich Micucci who is making them agreed to make custom half-sizes on demand if they are between 9-13. Just email me, and I will let you know delivery times.

There is a jeweler’s secret I recently found about which is not always true but if you are an average sized male your US shoe size is often the same as the ring finger size of your dominant hand. If you are an average sized woman, half your shoe sized plus 1.5 often equals your dominant ring finger size. And as a general rule the ring finger size of your dominant hand is half a size larger than that of your other hand. I was wondering how this info can be used in magic or mentalism…

    â–ºSilver M Ring:

The M Ring was originally popularized by Nate Leipzig in the 1920s, after he supposedly purchased one in France, and has been worn by magicians and mentalists ever since. If you look through some magic books or even videos you will see many well-known magicians and mentalists wearing them.

The ring design which resembles the letter M when cut in half and flattened is also known as a Wishbone Ring or a Wizard Ring. It has also been used as a holdout device because of the pointy edges. You can easily stick a card, a coin, a poker chip, etc… and have the ring hold it in place.

Richard Micucci whose jewelry and medal factory is a couple of miles from our warehouse decided to tackle this project and produce some of these rings for his friends and then agreed to allow us to sell them. The rings are made of 925 sterling silver and are cast using lost wax, they are then hand-filed and polished.

    â–ºThindex:

The Thindex is basically a thirteen-compartment credit card holder you can insert into most wallets, props, or even within the folds of a handkerchief. Using this hidden device Todd Karr teaches you various mentalism routines you can perform where there can be 52+ prediction possibilities.

Routines include: Bare Bones Prediction, Complex Card Prediction, Dreamgirl, Double Mysticism, Rock ‘n’ Roll Predictions, Pop-Culture Predictions, Destiny’s Name, Creative Currency, Psychic Bartender, Spy Identity, Spectrum Vision, Murder Mystery, Pizza Prediction, Ice Cream Sundae, and Coffee House.

    Stay happy, Meir

PS: Can anyone guess why I stopped wearing a ring on my ring finger?
