Today’s newsletter will take on a gambling theme. I recently purchased a bunch of Punch’d for you, because I really like them. They are ideal for magic, well made, and inexpensive. They are basically 3D printed card punches.

I also just received two gambling books that have been out of stock for a while.

►Punch’d:
Punch’d is a 3D printed card punch that is exceptionally good. The design is based on the original metal ones that had an adjustable needle attached, but these are completely self-contained and the pin end is made of plastic as part of the original 3D printing.
There are many routines in print using the brail like marking system which you can find all over the place. The included tutorial discusses and teaches many applications and routines.

►Card Peggers:
This is a precision-made card pegger also known as a card punch that is based on the Dr. X design. They are secret weapons used by card cheaters to mark cards during play by attaching them to their fingers or thumb and putting in the work while handling the cards.
These types of punches have also been known to be secretly attached to tables, rings, watches, buttons, and other objects that might get in contact with cards.

►Thought Of Card Across:
This is a very clean and direct looking thought of card across routine where you show ten black-faced and ten red-faced cards. A spectator mentally selects any of the black cards.
Without any fancy moves, the chosen card vanishes from the pack of black cards and shows up amongst the other pack of red cards as the only black card there.
Practically self-working and can be used on stage or for close-up.

►Cheating At Texas Hold’em:
A fascinating and educational book by magician John Born subtitled, “A Modern Guide to the Art of Deception and Illicit Play at the Card Table,” is full of all of the latest gimmicks and techniques used to cheat at cards and Texas Hold’em in particular.
Along with all of the classic methods which are presented in a modern context you will find many new approaches and ideas developed by Born and some of the people he knows. What makes this book stand out from many of the rest is that it was written in a manner that even the most uninformed card player and magician will be able to understand.

►Faro Exposed:
This is a reproduction of one of the rarest cheating books ever published. There are only three known copies in existence and the copy that this edition was made from recently sold at auction for US $24,000.00!
It was written by Alfred Trumble and was first published in 1882. It was a landmark book on America’s favorite crooked card game. It explains the origin, rules, and history of Faro, as well as the sophisticated methods used by card cheats to beat the odds.

►Fusion Coins:
Routines with impossible objects as their surprise ending always over-perform. This is one of Michael Rubinstein’s favorites.
The basic routine features you handing two coins to your friends for examination (a Quarter and a Penny) as you explain the different metals they are made of.
You then place the Penny on top of the Quarter and after a little squeeze the penny sinks into the quarter and is fused inside. The odd new coin can then be examined.
You pick up the coin, give it a little shake and the penny falls out leaving everything examinable and ordinary.
