On a recent afternoon, Matt Cadabra surveyed the dark warehouse room of Ripley’s Believe It or Not! in Atlantic City. He pulled off canvas covers and opened boxes to reveal a water torture chamber, medieval guillotine, rabbit boxes, wands and other magic props. Cadabra performed some of his tricks in front of the museum on the Boardwalk as a sort of sneak peak of his Magic and Dreams show, which he’ll perform in Vineland May 14 to 16...

When Magic is a Real Darling
TV and concert producer Patrick Terry recently put together another spectacle of magic and humor in the wake of his sold-out Wondershow at the Vortex, but did this one succeed? Terry, who we last mentioned in this article from a couple months ago, staged his latest show at the North Door, and, sure enough, it featured a couple of big names in the industry: Nick Lewin and Andrew Goldenhersh. Young Bolton magician Lorenzo, 15, hoping to be next-The Bolton News‎
MEET Bolton's answer to magic man Dynamo. Lorenzo Carcione may only be 15, but he already has a host of impressive tricks up his sleeve. The Thornleigh School pupil has been doing magic tricks since the age of four, inspired by brother Giuseppe who was trained by the Modern Mystic League's Norman Greenhalgh. Lorenzo remembers being mesmerised watching his older brother do a trick where he made a note magically float. Around that time, he found a box of magic tricks in his father's garage and started looking through it, working out how to do the tricks.

Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell: restoring the magic to England
Ten minutes into the first episode of the BBC’s new seven-part adaptation of Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell, there is a spookily good scene that reveals what viewers can expect in the following weeks. On a snowy night in February 1807, the members of a local society dedicated to the history of magic gather in York Minster. They have been promised a practical demonstration of sorcery, and almost all are scoffers and sceptics. A short distance away, in a pool of candlelight, the timid-looking Mr Norrell (Eddie Marsan) closes his eyes and murmurs a few mysterious words. Suddenly the aisles are full of noises. Gargoyles grimace and whisper overhead; statues grind into life; carved angels pluck stone harps and sing with unearthly stony voices. As a more open-minded witness observes the following day, thanks to a huge library of spells Norrell has assembled over the years, “magic is restored to England”...
