A local street performer is hitting it big time after videotaping his brush with the law. Not only did he get out of a speeding ticket, he became famous practically overnight. Steven Brundage, the 23-year old magician who spends his summers doing card tricks on Broadway in Saratoga Springs, caught a big break last week when he was pulled over in Scotia for speeding. Brundage was headed back from a gig in New York City at about 3 a.m., when he was caught driving 42 mph in a 30 mph zone..

Police hire magician to highlight dangers of pickpockets in -Kent Online‎
Stunned shoppers were caught unawares when they were targeted by a 'pickpocket' who put something IN their open bags or pockets. The novel exercise was captured on video as a magician hired by Kent Police secretly dropped cards the size of a smartphone in their bags. In the run-up to Christmas, magician Rob James hit the streets of Dover to pounce on unsuspecting bargain hunters.

The Library for Magicians Is Taking Appointments -Smithsonian‎
When Bill Kalush, a former magician, founded the Conjuring Arts Research Center in New York City, he wanted to create a place that "was available for anyone . . . to be able to come in and find some of the rarest material — the things that you couldn’t find, almost anywhere else in the world,” as he told PRI. The materials' subject? The ancient arts of magic and deception. Kalush has assembled books dating from the 15th century until now. The books themselves are available for members of the public to look through, but Kalush is also digitizing them and translating them, PRI says.
