Numbers up - Magician Keith and Hollywood star Woody hit the‎
Woody Harrelson travelled to Waterford at the weekend to hang out with illusionist Keith Barry – and play bingo. The True Detective actor was shown around by Waterford native Barry on Saturday night. The pair dined locally, but not before stopping by a bingo hall for a session. Harrelson and his new pal met this year on a film set in the States. Barry, who has spoken about the difficulty he has had breaking into the US scene, was there in an expert capacity.

Toy maker Cepia hopes magician mice scamper off retailers' shelves -St. Louis Business Journal
The Amazing Zhus use radio-frequency technology to perform magic tricks such as card games and the shell and pea game (with the mouse successfully guessing which shell the pea is hiding under every time), and even a disappearing act. Kurzu said it is too early to estimate what sales could be for the line. "But we're finding as quickly as it gets on the shelf, it disappears, which is the best magic trick yet," she said...

Magician David Blaine Makes Madonna's Bra Disappear During -Jewish Business News
In Interview magazine, she had an interview with magician David Blaine, a member of the tribe, and Madonna has that Kabbala connection. Although she is barely recognizable on the cover (she Tweeted, “Sometimes I sleep standing up. Thank you David Blaine”) the photos inside the magazine are definitely Madonna, and I’m assuming the boobs are hers. She talked about her song “Devil Prays” which is about drugs. This seems surprising given the punishing workouts she talked about in the past and her macrobiotic diet. But she admits “I’ve tried everything once.” Madonna says drugs are a way people try to connect to God, “but ultimately, they kill you.”..

Magician Criss Angel makes tickets to his Easton State Theatre shows disappear
Just two weeks after tickets to the “Mindfreak” magician’s Jan. 20 shows at the theater went on sale, the earlier of the two shows is functionally sold out. As of Wednesday night, 22 seats in the 1,550-capacity theatre remained unsold for the 6 p.m. show, but all were single seats, with no contiguous seats available. Those are traditionally harder to sell – though some are actually decent seats in the rear sections of the theatre orchestra-section floor.

‘The Illusionists: Witness the Impossible,’ theater review -Daily News
Those comic-book superheroes merged their special powers to become greater than the sum of their parts. The Illusionists, not so much. They tend to go it alone, and the show unfolds as a hodgepodge.

'The Illusionists,' a High-Tech Magic Extravaganza -New York Times
Should this feat take place imminently, gone, too, would be “The Illusionists,” an overproduced and overblown magic show featuring seven talented tricksters drowning in a sea of cheese. Magic acts, it seems to me, are best served like a nice dry martini, straight up....

'The Illusionists -- Witness the Impossible': Theater Review
To call the evening a mixed bag is an understatement. For every reasonably effective illusion, there's another that lands with a thud. Much of the merriment is provided by the hapless "volunteers" from the audience, recruited into the action: Be warned, practically no one seated in the orchestra section is safe.

Old-school magic revue 'The Illusionists' only half-wows B'way -New York Post
“The Illusionists” seems so much like a Vegas revue that you half expect that it comes with an all-you-can eat buffet. And when we say Vegas, we mean something old-school like the Flamingo, not the swanky Bellagio....

Dirk Arthur the last magician to commune, commute with tigers -Las Vegas Review-Journal‎
“I can really see why I’m the last guy left who has a show with big cats,” says Dirk Arthur. “It’s not convenient by any means.” Every performer hopes for a long run on the Strip, but Arthur says the Riviera is really rooting for him after “the most difficult load-in of my career” for “Wild Illusions.” The magic show opened this week in the second-floor showroom that long hosted the drag revue “La Cage.” Ads tout that Arthur is now the only Las Vegas magician to work with tigers and other exotic animals on the Strip....

"He Was First!" - Roger Langridge Talks Mandrake The Magician -Bleeding Cool News‎
Next year Dynamite is kicking off the King Features crossover event which is five miniseries that will all merge into one. Part of that event is a Mandrake the Magician series written by Roger Langridge. Byron Brewer chatted with the writer about taking on such a classic character. I suppose the snarky answer is, “He was first!” All the other magical characters are, to a greater or lesser degree, imitators of Mandrake. Some, like Zatara, were even direct knockoffs. And Mandrake’s a lot more human than either of those characters you mention; he’s got some warmth and charisma, which your Doctors really don’t. Terrible bedside manner. Very cold hands...
