once on stage puts that person into a
deep sleep, right? The magician movie

that to an entire audience.

Ask a Magician : How Hard Is It to Make
It in the Illusion Game These Days?
It’s no secret that Hollywood loves
magic, but that love is typically
expressed in the guise of Harry Potter–esque
wizards or Oz-like witches. This
weekend’s Incredible Burt Wonderstone,
however, takes the profession to its
goofiest extremes, using magic's
cheesier elements to portray a
caricature of an industry that is
already, to some, easily mocked.

No Magic in "The Incredible Burt
Wonderstone"
Jim Carrey provides exactly what is
expected: gross humor that's heavy on
facial contortions. Alan Arkin is great
to watch but doesn't play a strong
enough role to be the hero of the film
and bring it home. The last third of the
film is very funny but not enough to tie
it all together.
