Magic award goes ... poof - New York Post
An award given to magician David Copperfield disappeared into thin air, the old-fashioned way, from his Midtown penthouse. Copperfield recently received a “King of Magic” honor, bestowed by the Society of American Magicians, at a reception at his apartment. After an evening of toasts, cake and champagne to celebrate -- with guests including Roberto Cavalli, Owen Wilson, Robert Verdi, Michael Michele, Blaine Trump, Peter Brant and Michael Stipe -- Copperfield followed the crowd out the door and enjoyed a late dinner on the town. But when he got back home -- presto chango! -- he discovered his front door was wide open, and the cherished plaque was nowhere to be found.

"The Foodie Magician" and His Tableside Sleights of Hand
Josh Beckerman, who lives in Midtown Manhattan, makes money as a professional magician at corporate parties, charity events, weddings and bar mitzvahs, but his conversational currents tend more toward the realm of Anthony Bourdain than David Blaine. Naturally, this being the 21st century, he presides over a blog, called NYC Foodie, which chronicles his adventures in eating. He has a thing for burgers. “The lamb burger at the Breslin is one of the best burgers in New York,” he said. “I get turned on just by looking at a menu.” He views his nocturnal excursions as an opportunity for brand expansion. “Every time I leave my apartment, it’s like an investment,” he said.

Penn Jillette held his tongue once - Las Vegas Review Journal
Jillette is just as blunt about the notion of magic. He has argued with David Blaine about the use of the word "trick." "He hates the word. We love the word," Jillette writes. He continued, "(Blaine) and Criss Angel did an odd thing. They became famous as magicians and then claimed to be doing things for real."..

Penn and Teller: Fool Us, Saturday, October 1 - Sydney Morning Herald
Penn Jillette and his partner (no first name) Teller have been performing together as magicians for 35 years, based at the Las Vegas Rio Casino for the past decade. If anyone knows how to pull off an illusion, it's these two. And that's their problem. They know exactly how every trick of the trade is done, so there's no wonder in it any more. In this series, they hope to get that wonder back, inviting Britain's top magicians to perform a trick in front of them and (hopefully) fool them.

Digging deeper into magician Wyrick's woes - Las Vegas Review-Journal
Las Vegas entertainment folks obsess over the existence of a magician named Steve Wyrick. How is he able to keep having a show in town after the public seems to have voted him off to Timbuktu, or at least Branson? Why did the Las Vegas Hilton let him try again? Especially after the Hilton had just pulled the plug on another nonstarter magic show called "Triumph." To the surprise of no one -- except, apparently, Wyrick and the Hilton -- the magic show is on "hiatus" after six weeks and unlikely to reopen ... at least not at the Hilton.
