Just in time for its second anniversary this Halloween weekend, Mindfreak superstar Criss Angel has magically transformed his Cirque du Soleil show Believe at the Luxor. In fact, with a total of 40 amazing illusions, the show has now become a high-powered, high-speed rock arena magic spectacular. The dancers have vanished, the dark tale of tricks gone awry has disappeared, and in their place, Criss has conjured Mindfreak on steroids live onstage....

DVD Review: The Magician (1958) - The Criterion Collection
The Magician is considered one of the master’s lesser works. Yet even lesser Bergman can be pretty damn amazing, and this longtime admirer found Criterion’s recent DVD release an apt offering for Halloween Day. With a beautifully restored high-def digital transfer and improved subtitles, the moodily lensed (courtesy of elegant cinematographer Gunnar Fischer) movie proves an enjoyable grown-up gothic exercise.

Major Houdini exhibit opens

A century after Harry Houdini thrilled audiences with daring escapes from handcuffs, straitjackets and watery tombs, the legendary magician has conjured a major art museum exhibition that explores his enduring legacy. “Houdini: Art and Magic,” which opened Friday at The Jewish Museum, tells the story of an impoverished son of Jewish immigrants who harnessed the power of the mass media, and the emerging technologies of film and photography, to become one of the 20th century’s most famous performers.

Magic Tricks Are a Treat - Patch
They were there to see CHS Vice Principal and Magic Club Advisor Michael Healy present his annual Magic Show. The show was the first of two and proceeds from the performances help fund the yearly activities of the CHS Magic Club. According to Healy, this past week was National Magic Week, and, yes, you canlook it up if you believe you are being tricked. Students in the club can join the youth chapter of the Society of American Magicians.
