Houdini is discussed in a Georgetown University article which looks back at the, "time when high-risk acts were the height of entertainment, building on the most primal fear. Death is the only thing that scares us more than ghosts, snakes and that creepy thing that's been under the bed since last Tuesday." An interesting take by the author on what current performers do is, "...by today's standards, a good trick is one that is billed as 'something Houdini would have done,' but only the greatest performers dare attempt what Houdini actually did."
